Jobs for May :

 

- Deadhead Spring bulbs but do not cut the foliage back for at

  least six weeks after deadheading

- Provide support for tall perennials before they get too tall

- Cut back spring flowering perennials to encourage fresh foliage

- Plant up hanging baskets and containers with summer bedding

  BUT keep an eye on the weather forecast and protect them with

  horticultural fleece or netting if cold nights are forecast

- Mow the lawn regularly and feed with high nitrogen fertiliser

- Take cuttings from new growth- dahlias, pelargoniums, fuchsias
