1920’s House
Back Garden - before
This is a back garden of a house in Felixstowe, Suffolk.
The client has limited mobility and I was asked to re-design the garden using low
slip materials and no steps.
The client required a low maintenance garden with all year round interest,
a view from the house windows, somewhere shady
to sit and space for the
family to gather.
Local knapped flints with paving and
contrasting paviors were used to
compliment the house.
The new paths are wide for access and accent.
The random laid paving is interrupted with planted and filled squares to add interest.
All of the paving is of the same low slip material; the random paving is a darker
colour than the formal laid paths.
At the side of the summer house a pergola was constructed using planed timber. The
roof spans are fairly close together so that they cast a lot of shade.
