Jobs for August :

- Continue feeding, watering & dead heading pots & containers

- Prune fruit cordons, espaliers and fans

- Prune rambling roses after they have flowered

- Take cuttings of tender perennials like penstemon, fuchsia, hebe

  and weigela

- Remove faded flowers of lavender to encourage a second flush

- Remove whippy side shoots of wisteria to 20cm

- Take pelargonium cuttings

- Check all fruit trees and shrubs for pests and fungus attack and

  deal with them promptly
