At the beginning of July 2008 we decided to present a Show Garden at the Autumn Garden Show at Trinity Park
(The Suffolk Show Ground).
The Show was over three days, August 29th to 31st 2008.
The plot was 6m x 6m (20’x20’) and we just had one day to build the garden and afterwards we had to return the site to the condition in which we found it.
Planning and timing were paramount -

Reduce Your Carbon Footprint and Your Food Bill
The garden is designed to reduce your carbon footprint and to help you keep a hold on the purse strings. About three quarters of the plants are edible. It is called a ‘potager’ but think of it as a healthy store cupboard for body and soul.
A vegetable and herb garden doesn’t have to be hidden behind the shed and have straight rows like a traditional allotment – bring it into the spotlight and show it off. Pretty it up with flowers, foliage and texture; something to feast your eyes on as well as satisfying your appetite!
You could be enjoying something from the garden every day of the year!
With some planning and imagination you can grow vegetables and herbs anywhere. Create
a design that suits your garden style and off you go!. Try something different each
year -
(keep in mind crop rotation and feeding the soil
because vegetables get sick just like us).
